EA has confirmed that since its launch last week, FIFA 13 has sold over 4.5 million copies. Additionally, the game has been named the fastest-selling game of 2012 (so far). Important note: The game isn’t the fastest-selling “sports” title, it’s the fastest-selling title overall. In order words, it’s sold faster than Mists of Pandaria, Borderlands 2 or any other random game. EA has noted player concurrency of over 800,000—far beyond pretty much anything else on the market right now.
Here’s some other odd stats:
- Players have played 66 million online games
- 600 million minutes have been logged online
- 1 million copies sold in the UK alone on launch day
Of course, it’s one thing to say FIFA 13 is the fastest-selling game so far, and quite another to call it the fastest-selling game of the year. We still have a packed fall launch schedule with big titles like Dishonored and Call of Duty: Black Ops II on deck, so we’ll just have to see how things play out.
Congratulations to EA though, and to fans of FIFA 13 across the globe for participating in such a massive launch.
